Deadline for submissions is this Friday

There is still time to submit your entries! Deadline for artist entries is this Friday, April 26th. Hurry and submit your bench designs.

Because we are trying to complete this project within a semester, we have decided to select three to five bench designs from artists’ submissions instead of the original thirty. The three to five selected benches will be displayed prominently in downtown Lincoln.

We were inspired by the Lincoln Arts Council’s “Tour de Lincoln” public art bike project and would like to put up 30 beautifully and artistically painted benches around downtown Lincoln, the Haymarket, parks, and neighborhoods. These benches would enhance the beauty of the city, encourage appreciation for local art, provide more sitting places for visitors, and most importantly generate conversation about the issue of human trafficking in Nebraska, where many do not think it is a real issue. These are some examples from another bench art project in Rochester, MN.
